Description
Tabebuia chrysotricha - 'Gold Tree' (or 'Gold Trumpet Tree') This tree is cold hardy, fine in Zone 9B- 11, prefers non-clay soils and near-neutral pH. Seaside- and drought-tolerant once established, it prefers consistent moisture. Both trees do well in urban environments and don't need fertilizer or irrigation under normal soil and weather conditions. Becomes covered in yellow-gold flowers in spring. While tolerant of a variety of soils, Tabebuia growing conditions must include a warm location with no freezing possibility. The plants have a high drought tolerance but do prefer fertile soil with good drainage. If your garden has clay, loam, sand or any soil pH, these will still fulfill appropriate Tabebuia growing conditions. You can grow this tree in a large container while it's young. Planting Instructions: (a info print-out comes included with your seed order) Plant tabebuia seeds in peat pots filled with potting soil, at a depth of 1/2-inch. Place the pots in a sunny indoor location and keep the soil moist by spritzing it with a spray bottle. Transplant tabebuia seedlings into larger pots once leaves develop. When seedlings reach 18 inches in height, move them outdoors. Prepare an outdoor planting spot with full to partial sun and well-drained soil. Amend the soil with organic compost by adding 4 inches of compost over the soil and mixing it to a depth of 6 inches. Dig holes 12 to 20 feet apart that are 2 times as wide as each plant's roots and just as deep, so that the seedlings are planted at their original depth. Place plants into the holes and add back the
